Phreedom Phonics provides 1-on-1 and small group, systematic, multi-sensory instruction for readers of all ages. Derek is trained in IMSE techniques and has over 5 years of experience as a classroom and special education teacher. Derek specializes in young readers and includes movements, games, and tactile techniques to improve reading skills for long term success.

Derek typically provides instruction at his student's home ranging from Solana Beach to Carlsbad.
All the needed materials are provided, and Derek will guide parents with weekly practice as well as suggest online programs.
Derek customizes instruction for students at all age levels from the very beginning, to readers struggling with multisyllabic words.
Many older students need a review of phonics so they can accurately sound out unknown words that affect their comprehension.
Tracking Growth
Derek uses simple assessments to determine a starting point for instruction and tracks growth, which not only inspires the learner, but ensures the techniques are working for your student.
Expert Guidance
Derek provides expert guidance through personalized, one-on-one phonics lessons lasting about 45 minutes. Each lesson includes isolated word reading, fluency practice, and dictation with handwriting guidance.

If you have students near the same instructional level we can create fun, active groups. Group Lessons are about an hour long.

Groups of 2 - $40 Each
Group of 3 - $30 Each
Group of 4 - $25 Each
Each individual student must take initial assessments prior to group lessons.
